Introducing the SIGSOFT Mastodon Server

We are happy to announce that we just launched a Mastodon server exclusively for SIGSOFT members.

Mastodon is a decentralized social media that has been gaining in popularity recently. In contrast to centralized platforms, Mastodon is a federation of servers, each hosting user accounts for a specific community. With an account on the SIGSOFT server, you can follow anyone across the Fediverse of Mastodon severs. At the same time, you can easily find and engage with fellow SIGSOFT members via the server’s member directory and local timeline.

  • If you are new to Mastodon, you can request your account by visiting https://social.sigsoft.org/. Click the “Create Account” button. In the box “reason to join”, enter your SIGSOFT member number. Your account will become active as soon as we have a chance to approve it.
  • If you already have a Mastodon account, you can move it to the SIGSOFT server by following this guide.

Accounts on the SIGSOFT Mastodon server are a benefit to SIGSOFT members to promote networking and community building. The server is fully funded by SIGSOFT and is free for members. There are no ads and no requests for donations. Should you choose to terminate your SIGSOFT membership, your account will remain fully functional for at least six months, and can be extended upon request. You can move your account to a different server at any point.

We hope to see you there!
