In terms of the announcements,

ACM Open. Following a strong request from the community, ACM has made a final decision to switch to open access for its Digital Library on January 1, 2026. For more information, please refer to https://libraries.acm.org/subscriptions-access/acmopen. TL;DR: to publish in ACM conferences after January 1, 2026, every research paper should either have a contact author whose institution signed an ACM Open agreement or it needs to be accompanied by an APC charge (around 700 US for ACM members). We will discuss the implications of this transition some more at the ICSE’25 Town Hall. Note that currently four conferences, ASE, MODELS, ICSE and ESEM, which are co-sponsored by ACM and IEEE, alternate years between publication in ACM and in IEEE, and the changes directly affect only the years when ACM is the administrative lead.

A conference sustainability initiative. Please refer to https://sigsoft.medium.com/a-conference-sustainability-initiative-a79aec00fbba.

A heads up for a call for summer/winter schools — we will launch a call for 2025–26 summer/winter schools in early 2025. Please keep a look out for further details on SIGSOFT social media channels and SEWORLD. Last year’s call is available at: https://sigsoft.medium.com/2024-25-summer-winter-schools-call-for-proposals-01ce7b1972cd

Thank you!

Marsha Chechik
